Sun Valley, Grand Targhee, & Jackson Hole

Every winter, the family tries to get together and do an epic snowboard trip. So far we have done Whistler BC, Breckenridge CO, and Jackson Hole WY. In February of 2016 we decided to do a road trip and hit three different resorts in two different states; Sun Valley in Idaho, Grand Targhee in Wyoming, and end the road trip in Jackson Hole Wyoming.

We began the trip by driving 14 hours to Sun Valley Idaho where our cousins live. It was great to see them! They showed us all around Ketchum, hit up the brewery in town, then hit the slopes at Sun Valley Resort. We lucked out and got several blue bird days of snowboarding! We were also able to check out the other resort Dollar Mountain which had a great park! Snowboarding there also gave us the opportunity to snowboard into our cousins' backyard with a little bit of hiking. The guys even hiked straight up to the top then snowboarded down. It was a lot of fun! We spent one day digging out their fire pit and making seats out of the excess snow. Nothing beats a bomb sunset, fire roaring, a cold beer in hand, and being surrounded by family.

Leaving Sun Valley was hard but we were all pretty excited about Grand Targhee. Ever since mine and Luke's trip up to Jackson Hole Wyoming the previous year, we have been wanting to hit up Grand Targhee. A lot of people we met in Jackson bragged about it and they were right! We loved it there! Its a small resort with awesome snow and infinite activities. Besides all the snowboarding we did, we were also able to do a bit of snowshoeing and exploring. This was our first time trying Snowshoeing so we really just goofed around a bunch but we definitely fell in love with it! Our first day snowboarding on the mountain was a bit sketchy since the visibility was almost zero in the morning. Definitely dangerous to snowboard on a new mountain and not knowing where you are going. Fortunately for us the weather cleared up and we got to explore the entire mountain. We loved being able to see the Tetons in the distance and finding powder runs, then ending the day with a cold beer at the bar. As much as we loved Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole was calling our names!

Of course the day we drive over the pass into Jackson it begins to snow. Boy, did it snow a lot! We enjoyed our first day in Jackson by hanging out, watching the snow fall, and celebrating my sister's birthday. We took her to Snake River Brewery for a bomb dinner and tasty beer. What better way to celebrate a birthday then in Jackson Wyoming?! Plus, the next day we got blue bird skies! We started our morning with a trip on the tram to the top of Jackson Hole where we enjoyed a Top Of The World Waffle at Corbets Cabin then headed down the mountain. There is nothing better then getting to enjoy our last couple days on one of our favorite mountains. Luke and I were able to show some of our favorite spots in and around Jackson and even got to see several moose! Jackson will forever have our hearts. It was definitely bittersweet to say goodbye and head home, but at least we get to take home tons of new memories.
